Selecting proper colors for frame and mat is a creative process for which we can give many suggestions.

Prints, watercolor, or pastel works should be surrounded by an acid-free mat and placed inside a narrower frame under UV protection glass.

Generally, oil or acrylic paintings should be placed in an open and wider frame as shown here.
